Raquel Reed put up her very first music video for her song ‘The Fast Lane’. First off, I’ll start with what I liked about the video/song. The beat is sooo good and will definitely get people up and dancing at any club. As for the rest of the video, I was a little underwhelmed by Raquel’s fashion/wardrobe. We all know her as an alternative model, so we always expect her clothing to be ‘out there’ and I was expecting that. I was expecting to see something new and crazy that works because we know Raquel can make it work. However, what I got was low-budget knock offs of things I saw Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Rihanna wearing in their own videos. The disco bra, the spiked shades, the handlebar corset….Really? The lyrics lack any real substance. It just didn’t ‘wow’ me. The Fast Lane is just a straight up party song and I guess there’s no way to really do a “strictly ‘party’” song incorrectly. As long as people dance… If she plans on being a serious artist and not just a novelty act, she’ll have to show a different side of herself as a musician. What did you guys think of the video/song?!
