If you’re looking for Charlotte Sometimes, the Timbaland produced pop princess in the making you may have discovered on VH1’s You Outta Know a while back, look again. “Sideways” a new EP from the ever-so-talented Charlotte Sometimes is not one long happy love song. It’s a mixture of songs that evoke the different emotions of a girl who has been through some things. The fact that she can sing about this being a Bad, Bad World without being too overly ‘Alanis Morisette angry’ and still make you want to sing and dance along is perfect. It’s classic Charlotte Sometimes. Anyone who had her last record knows that this girl can sing, can get you on your feet dancing and that she has an overall unique style about her.
My favorite from the Sideways EP is Ooh Love because it is super cute and one of the more upbeat songs on the record. However, anyone looking for Waves and The Both of US 2.0 is out of luck. This EP is more emotive. It’s a bit darker (emotionally) than Waves, but just as edgy. It’s definitely worth a listen whether you were a huge fan of her first record like I was or if you’re completely new to Charlotte Sometimes. Check it out!
